I have no information about anything official regarding this camo scheme. The photo is dated 1982 and is somewhere on 29 Palms. I have no idea of any aircraft painted in this style camo, not to say it didn't happen but I've just never seen it.

I believe it is the USMC adaptation of the Army's MERDC.

Here is a great explanation of what MERDC patterns were:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~gurth/afv/merdc.html

I've been able to find MERDC patterns for the LVPT-7, but never anything saying which commands used schemes, or if the Marines even used the same colors as the Army...

Rampage55, sorry to digress from you build thread...My post probably belongs on Missing-Lynx LOL

Accidentally stumbled in here, you're doing Armor, too? Where's your ship models?

Very nice work on your tracked thingy.

Thanks Mason.

I like to build something other that aircraft occasionally,... very occasionally.

I do have a couple of aircraft carriers in the stash.

Always good to see an amtrac being worked. Your's looks really good, too. I've got one that is actually motorized sitting in the stash, waiting. I'd really like to have one with an interior on the shelf.

Hey Mark
Any updates coming up, I'd like to see how your TRAC is lookin these days. I did pull mine out of the stash, looked through it and all, thats as far as I got. I still need to finish a commision build, before I get going on mine. When you get a chance let us know how it's coming along. Thanks.

Hey Todd,
What's the matter, you can't build more than one model at a time? Stop talking about it and get building. I look forward to seeing it progress, your AAVP7 came out sweet.

OK, with work and family commitments I have not had much time available for modeling lately... But I have been tinkering with how I want to load this beast. I've been going back and forth with different gear, blue tacked in place to get an idea of what gear and where it will go. I also made some stretched sprue antennas and dry fit them.

Even with a base it was still missing something. So I drafted a Soldier from my M113 ACAV kit and I plan on making a man out of 'em.
A few bushes and I think that will finish it off.

She's loaded with everything a Grunt needs for a little Marine Corps style holiday in the Mojave Desert... Even a box of some delicious MRE's to feast on...

Now I need to strip all this gear off and pull the tracks and wheels and prime this Sucker and get it ready to paint.

Semper Fi,
Mark

Mark,
I just feel guilty working on my own stuff with a commisson build 80% done. I have started cleaning up the parts and such. I picked up one of the new Hobby Boss kits. I damb near shit my pants when I seen it really has a full interior, no engine compartment, but everything else is there. The kit was $62 from Squadron and well worth it. Once I finish this comm. build I'll get going all out on a snow camo LVTP. Yours is looking great by the way.

Dang!!! I had no Idea HobbyBoss was coming out with AAVP7 and with an interior to boot. I'm going to have to pick up one of those.

Oh, I definitely need to get at least one of the HobbyBoss kits if there's an interior.

Hey I was just over at Sprue Bros and preorder the next two new AAV's, due in around the end of the week. Just wanted to give it a heads up.

I just picked one up last week at it's so sweeeeet. The interior is amazing. I think I need to get a few more armor builds under my belt before I attempt it though.

Now I've completed my Fury I hope to focus on getting this project finished off. I primed it black and sprayed the first coat of desert sand. I'll post some photo's soon.

Semper Fi,
Mark

How about a 1/35 desert tortoise with a EGA and a 7th MarRegt tac number spray-painted on it? (I'm not saying I know about any such thing happening. I deny all knowledge of any such event ever happening at CAX.)

Thanks for your interest gentleman.

There has been very little progress of late, but I have done a little with it.

Primed with a flat black

First coat of sand. It needs another coat before I start to spray the brown shade. I've also started painting some of the gear that I plan to hang from this beast of burden as well.

Here's the driver with the initial paint job done. I want him to look like he's covered in dust.

Thanks again guy's!... You have given me the motivation I needed to get working on this project again.
