Default Looking for Detail Pics of LAU-115 or LAU-145 Dual Launchers for F-18

Hey guys,
once again I need the help of the pro's.
I'm still sitting on my Super Hornet and am at least thinking about giving her an airshow load out, i.e. all AIR/AIR, one tank in the center and using as many AIM-120's as I can (well guessing that it isn't all that realistic)

Does anyone have some good refs especially of the lower side of the dual launchers which this VFA-2 Bug carried during the airshow appearances in 2004?

Any help would be most appreciated!
Many thanks again in advance!

I believe the above thread maybe helpful.

The LAU-115 "Monster" (LAU-115 w/ LAU-127's) is the same as the one's used on the F-18A-D. The VFA-2 bird was a one time flight clearance and currently the Super Hornet is on authorized to fly the LAU-115/127 monster.

Never heard of a LAU-145.

Gerry

Gerry:
Many thanks for the great intel and the valuable links, that is what I was looking for. I know now that Hasegawa seems to have them in their weapons set E in 1/48. If I could only get a decent shot of the lower side. The photos seem to imply that that the surface of the rail the two LAU's are fixed on is not just plane but that there are some extra adapters or something. I can't really make it out.

graves: Howlin' @$$ now that is what I call an inspiration! That looks awesome. Any chance for a link to some more photos of the beauty?

The "monster", as Gerry called it, is made up of a LAU-115 launcher (used by itself for the AIM-7 missile) with a pair of LAU-127 rails bolted to the sides of the 115. There are no extra adapters, unless you count the jettison adapter on the top of the LAU-115 but that is really part of the launcher for all practical purposes. The underside of the LAU-115 is a rail for the Sparrow. Mayhaps a google search for LAU-115 images may help on what it looks like - I don't have access to the launcher tech manuals anymore and probably wouldn't be able to post the images even if I did.

Gerry: As always, you are a saint! PERFECT! Many thanks

Graves: Dang! That is one hot Rhino! Fantastic build!
This is just about what I want to do for this little fella here:

I just had the same idea and for the very same reasons as you had on using magnets in order to change between "Yeah Baby" and "Authentic".
Would you mind to shed a little light on how you did that thing with the magnets? I think I could learn the one or other thing from you.

I didn't do anything really special with the magnets. I bought some from a website online. I think they were something like 1/16" diameter by 1/8" deep. I just used a small drill bit to bore out a hole in the plyon and in the LAU-115. I mounted them flush and painted over. Just make sure that you match the polarity of the magnets when you glue them in. Otherwise your launchers will never stick!!!

BTW, nice work on the NWU bird! I love doing complex camo schemes but I would never have the patiences to pull that off!!! Doing the "TOPGUN" splinter tomcat was enough masking for me!

Many thanks again for the heads up graves. It's definitely worth a try I think. I'll make and update once I get there.
