Default B-29 Decals...

Eli... I saw over on ARC that you are gathering refs for some B-29 decals...I hope like hell you do Command Decision...I will send you the photos of the nose art I took of it in the AF Museum at Dayton if you need them...

Will

Well having seen it in person at the Air Force Museum and then doing some research on it...think it would be a great subject to do...

Some of the history of this Super Fort....Command Decision

That and one of the crew has a really cool last name

Interesting reading up on the background of noseart, and the personal connection makes sense too Thanks for the link Will.

I'm fairly certain that I'm not related to Major Self. I snapped the first picture at the AF Museum and then looked closer at the name under the window. My great uncle Aubrey was with the Air Corp on Tinian island in WWII. I didn't find that out till after he passed away. Like so many of that generation he never made a big deal about it. Best I can piece together he was ground crew.

That is a pretty cool website

Unfortunately, the nose section at NMUSAF is not the original "Command Decision" - which is long gone.

Its just the nose section of a random (and available) B-29 painted in Command Decision's markings.

Yeah...came across that little tidbit while doing research on it...seems the real one was ultimately destroyed after being damaged several times while being moved around...think that info was on the link I provided...not sure thought could have been somewhere else I saw it.
