To be honest, I'm not sure why I went with Gray. In most of the Demon (which are mostly black & white) pics I have the seat appears to be black. I did come across this one which is definitely gray. It does look like black was more common however.

Thanks, Geoff.

Nice picture. This one appears to have a metal-colored nose landing gear too.
We sure can build quite a bit of variety into our Demons.

Cheers, Stefan.

Default VF-171 Aces F-4S

So I just finished up my Hase F-4S with Furball's latest release. All I can say is they are OUTSTANDING!!! Went on like butter ad no setting solution required - they just snuggled right down into the panel lines. Outstanding work Geoff - that there is a quality product!!!

The squadron was VF-171 Aces, the East Cost F-4 RAG circa 1983. This was my first TPS painted bird - think it turned out OK, but still refining my modeling skills and trying out new tips and techniques. Pretty happy with the results, but definitely room for improvement. Pic quality ain't the greatest, but not bad for an iphone.

Anywho, thanks for looking and thanks again Geoff!!!

I agree with Jeff Very fast !!
I see the display case, is it an ikea display with four shelf?
If so what size U/bolt/wire clamps have you there to secure another glass shelf?
Recently I bought a display case but filled it. I need more room.

Hello fellas, more pics on the way (as soon as they pass Moderator approval).

Brett, yes, that surely is an Ikea Detolf (Swedish for don't be a dumbass and try to assemble this yourself). I added 4 more shelves and doubled the number of display shelves. There is a really good article on how to do this - if you google "adding shelves detolf," I believe it is the first search result.

The gist of project is this - 3/16" wire rope clips and 15 1/4" x 11 3/4" x 1/4" glass shelves (LxWxH). The dimensions of the new shelves ARE NOT the same as those that come with the unit. The article recommends using the above dimensions, (which I did) and they worked like a charm. The original unit, a light, rope clips and extra shelves came in at right around $100 - not too shabby for a great looking display case that can hold an F-15 and an F-14 w/ swept wings (just barely not enough room for one with wings full forward unfortunately). Not sure if a Vigi will fit in there or not, but it's on my build list so I guess we'll know soon enough.

Standby for more pics...

I took all the shelves out of my Detolf unit to make room for my 1/72 Saturn V...

Yeah not sure what's up with the image hoster you are using, but I can't see your pics, and I can only see your original pic from my I phone.

Default Cheers Jeff

Thankyou Jeff,
Im really appreciative of all the feedback I get from this model.
It was my first build after a long break from modelling and to be honest I surprised myself !
I was lucky enough to place 1st in my category at the IPMS Australia Annual in Melbourne this year so I am very happy. I must attribute the superb decals to the final finish they are simply the best Ive used lately. Also just trolling through all the post here at Z5 used different skills to achieve the subtle weathering on this model.

But having said that here is one of the jaw dropping models I keep going back for modelling inspiration.....

haha true..

Yeah so I'm still trying to figger out all the in and outs and what-have-yous of posting stuff. I uploaded (or tried to) some pics to a photo album I created here and it said that my pics were subject to "moderator approval." Not sure exactly what I did or didn't do, but apparently it wasn't done right if nobody can see the pics I attempted to post. Looks like I need to consult the FAQ page again. LOL. I'll get it right one of these days.

Are you using an image hoster like Photobucket? Z-5 five doesn't allow users to directly upload pictures.
