Dang. Was home sick from work today, didn't even have what it takes to work on a model.
But it made me wonder... What if there was an anti-bug? What if guys like me had a 24-hour challenge, to pick something you want to do, set a 24-hour goal, get your stuff together, and when the time begins, you go for it and achieve your goals - then report it back here. So, for me, I'd like to practice the time management aspect of modeling. How long should it take to paint a controlpanel? How long to paint a cockpit? How long to do each thing? When you hit a point in assembly where paint dries or cement is curing, what else do you do? Feel free to share ideas so geologic pace builders like me can finish something in a day. |

Yeah, I was really hoping that everyone was done being sick for the winter. No such luck, eh? Was it runny nose/fever? Or were you forced to camp out in the bathroom because of violent, projectile vomiting.
I really hate that second kind....... As far as the modeling goes, I've never even thought to time anything. When I'm done, I'm done. jb

Josh, it was a hot 'n' sweaty burpin' belchin' that woke me up, with an "OMFG I hope it's a fatal stroke" headache. Things only got worse for a couple hours, when I threw up. A lot. Once emptied out, I had a nasty headache still and puke breath. When it was time to go to work, I was still a little queasy, headache still felt like that famous photo of that South Vietnamese guy shooting that NVA spy in the head with the blood squirting 6 inches into the air... So I called in sick and slept not near enough.
Ok, that was the dramatized account, but it did suck. I suppose time estimates are plenty fine. |

It takes me about three years to do anything with a model

Hey, I ducked lots of illness, this was a surprise. I think I got it at our local Fasching event from one of the hundreds in presence.

I felt the same way Monday, had a flu bug--way too tired to touch the Viper kit.

I honestly thought when I opened this thread it was about building an F-18 in a day....

You rush things! Wait till I restart some of my early 90s stuff...
Seriously...no way I could build anything in 24 hours anymore. I'm a big believer in "when you think putty/glue/paint is dry, wait 1 more day just to be safe

I'm a firm believer in allowing glue to set and putty to cure, as well. I have a neat little fan that I use that helps it go thoroughly. I don't know if it's faster, but it seems better. I use a 12VDC computer fan in a housing with a wall wart that's rated at 12VDC, let the fan do its thing for a while. Aside from the fan, it was all salvaged stuff.
