Normal filler should do for this, though if they are deep, you may need two applications... That's what I would do anyway - no point mixing a lot of Milliput for such small quantities.

OK, I'm in. The Trumpeter F-100D has become such a chore that I can't work on it for more than an hour or so without getting tired of it. So, here's my Revell 727-100. I've replaced the cockpit area with a clear part left over from a Daco 737, and I've added an Authentic Airliners #2 intake. Still have to sand all of the raised detail off and fill the dents that represent windows. It will be in early Piedmont colors.

About filling windows and door outlines, Milliput and Apoxie Sculpt don't shrink, since they're epoxy putty. The downside to them is they take 24 hours to cure. I once tried Jennings Heilig's suggestion to cut out the windows and replace the section with a strip of styrene. That worked pretty well, too. I fill the door outlines, since they never match the decals anyway.

Cheers!

Ben

Finally got some work done this weekend. Got the fuselage and wings together, and I found the camera so I will try to post some pics later in the week.

So anybody get any work done?

With the Christmas Holiday and the kids home from school I can't say I got too much done. Mostly seam filling and filling in the outlines of the doors. Nothing picture worthy. I hope to resume full bore building soon. Unfortunately my January schedule is not the most conducive to building, but I'll do my best to move forward with this build.

I got a lot done... on remodelling the kitchen! Once I hang the old cabinets in the garage, I'll be able to get back to working on models again. I did get to do some more sanding and filling on the 727 Saturday. I had used Mr. Surfacer pretty liberally around the new #2 intake, and it really attacked the old plastic. I've had to cut away quite a bit of the permanently-softened plastic and will fill it with super glue. Once that's done, I can sand it to shape and she'll be ready for paint & decals.

Got a little done over the last couple of days.....

The cargo doors were missing from the kit, so I had to make new ones...

Wings glued together and dry fitted to the fuselage sides...

A couple of sink marks on the fuselage sides, just behind the cockpit..

Default HS Trident....a touch more progress

After looking at the fuselage, I decided I didn't like the opening at the top where the 3rd engine is supposed to be....nothing but an empty hole. So, how to fill it in, or more precisely, how to replicate the fan blades........
Initially, I tried to make a mould from Dough Worx - a Play-Doh clone - and fill it with aliphatic resin, however, when the resin dried, it also shrank substantially......so what to do?
The answer.....
I took an empty stubby lid, and filled it with plaster. Taking one of the fan faces from the other engines, I let the plaster set a little, then sat the fan face in the plaster, creating a mould.

Then I took a piece of sprue and set fire to the end. After a couple of seconds, I blew out the flame, and pressed the molten plastic into the mould. The result.....an additional fan face for the centre engine.

And here it is in place...

EDIT: Just found out the fan face is actually buried inside the fuselage and not visible......ah well, live and learn!

Got some more primer on today. Still trying to fix all the little blemishes and rescribe. I needed to shoot the gray to help me with some of the scribing, plus, it helps me see what the finished product will look like, even if the primer is too dark.

I have been distracted by other projects. Now it's summer. I hope to get back to this one in the fall.

Been flying the 1/1 stuff so much lately I haven't had time to do much. I'm enjoying sunny Columbus right now on day one of a four day trip.

Had modeller's block for quite a few months now - start things, but can't get motivated to finish anything at all...

My Revell 727-100 is primed and sanded. I just need to hit it with another coat of white primer, then I'll be able to paint the aluminum and grey areas. Just been too busy to mess with it for the last couple of months.
