Alright, so now that we finally have a 1/48 Hawkeye to round out any NavAir CVW...who says it's time to do a P-3 Orion in '48??!!
C'mon, Italeri has done a C-130 in '48, we can do this! Wishful thinking.

Hell, its not like the 72nd scale P-3 is small. that sucker and the 48th B-1 take up half my shelves on their own....

Saw that.
Still wonder who the manufacturer is. (What markings did it come with BTW?) |

Okay, sort of a tangent, but still on-topic.
Let's say you have a 1/48 P-3 vac-u-form kit - what injection-molded parts could you use to spruce it up? I was thinking - - props from the Italeri C-130 or Kinetic E-2 - exhausts from Italeri C-130 - wheels from Monogram F-8 or Italeri C-130? - Mavs from the Hasegawa Weapons Set - Torps from the ESCI S-3 Any ideas? (I've never built any vacuform kits. The most I've ever done with vacuform is aftermarket canopies.) |

I'd love a 48th P-3, if for no other reason than to build it for my dad. I got him a 72nd one while I was living in Oki, but I really wanted to build it with his squadron's markings as a surprise, but 72nd makes my eyes hurt and fingers twitch.
One can always hold out hope... I had been mulling over that vac kit, but having never worked with 'em, I'm not sure its something I want to tackle.

On a side note, my friend has the 1/48 ID Models vacuform Connie. Now that is big kit. Unfortunately he first had to first make it into a Connie. I have seen it assembled with a ton of putty and not finished. Hope he gets up the resolve to finally beat that thing into submission. I have a hard time with vacuform, but hopefully an injection kit will be released. I would like to get the rotodome and the supports from the E-2 to make the prototype P-3C AEW.
