It's always good to see model 299's still in the air. (I would mention the manufacturer, but I'm afraid they'd demand a licenseing fee.)

Ah, Sentimental Journey... first B-17 i saw fly, and first one i had a chance to get inside when i was a kid.

Can i take this is the Gillespie field? Those mountains are extreamly familiar looking.

The Collins Foundation brought thier B-17 and B-24 out to Carlsbad, but the weather was not co-operative so they didn't that day. Unfortunately the overcast sky didn't make for any nice pictures that day.

I did snap this image -

Nice shot John!

How were you able to be up looking down? Top of a wing is tough to see for most airplanes...

I was lucky that there was a two-story building with an outside deck beside the warbirds. Even then, I leaned out over the rail to get the shot I wanted.

I kinda rushed and shot this image "from the hip" at Gillespie Field yesterday.

I'm disappointed that didn't I select a slower shutter speed and bring along my tripod. The props would've looked much better as a spinning disc. Oh well...

Yup,went to the airport after work to see them, except they weren't there as scheduled. The B-17 was a hour and a half late, the B-24 was a no-show due to engine problems at Valparaiso, and the TP-51C came in just as I was leaving the airport at 5:30pm.

Mike, they will be in your neck of the woods in the next couple days.

Sweet! Thanks for the heads up Dave! Several yrs back they were giving rides for like $400.00 a pop! ...Can't afford that! but, I live right under the approach to Clark County Airport. So I'm sure I'll see it buzzing around.
