+1 That is one plane that cannot get enough love. Always liked them since I spent part of a year making sure the Soviets didn't steal any FB-111's.

This is a title I'd definitely like to do. the good news is that I worked with the RAAF a few years ago when they brought their jets to their final Red Flag. They let me shoot the cockpits, and climb all over the jets. The bad news is the Aussies' version is the only version I have access to. Jim Rotramel was nice enough to send me a ton of stuff on the USAF versions, but I'm still woefully weak in maintenance photos, ie. open panels, engines, etc. With no intact surviving airframes aside from museum pieces I can't see how it will ever get done. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them.

There are F-111s preserved at the American Air Museum at Duxford, Cambridgeshire as well as the National Cold War Exhibition at Cosford (near Wolverhampton), so two in the UK. I forget which versions they are though. They appear to be well kept, and I wouldn't think they've been repainted since their active duty - however, they probably have sensitive equipment removed.

Three actually,
Duxford Vark is a Heyford E model Cosford is a Heath F model and Lakenheaths Vark is an E model from Heyford None of these are wearing correct markings. Jake if you do this you can have what pictures i've got no problem.

Three - even better
Do you know what they've done to the aircraft before putting them on display? The two I mentioned still have their engines in place, but I'd assume that the rockets for the escape capsules would be removed?Jens

Jake, you could/should contact the folks at Code One magazine, I bet their photo archives contain tons of F-111 photos.

If you can look past the "in the museum" pics, I bet the AF Museum curator, properly leveraged, would let you all over theirs, and you only gotta drive an hour....
