The fun has begun for me....
Exhaust cans done.

More soon....

Alright, here's what I'm bringing to the table.

I'm debating if I want to build Felix 101 or Felix 111

Since I'm working with the older boxing, I did a little scratch building to get the instrument panels looking somewhat up to date.

Movin' right along, but a long way to go. Time for some MAJOR body work!!

Any progress Xavi?

ENS. "Bones" December 24th, 2014 02:39 AM

I wasnt gonna do it, but I HATE raised panel lines!!!
98% of the topside done in about 5 hours. :D

Oh so we're re-scribing? Is that what we're doing? Ok...I can play that game too.

But seriously you're doing some awesome work so far! You're really setting the bar high.

ENS. "Bones" December 24th, 2014 10:45 AM

Uh oh... Did I just poke the sleeping bear? Lol

But seriously, this is the first time ive ever rescribed a model.
Very time consuming, but rewarding so far.

Thank you for the complement.

Hey Evan; The re-scribing looks great so far. Gotta let me know what you used to do it with. I am actually building some Revell D version Tomcats myself from VF-101 Grim Reapers squadron and both will be in-flight to. E-mail me or call me latter if you have time.

Alright, since Bones won't stop bugging me for an update haha, here it goes...

I finished all the scratch building work in the cockpit. The main thing that really sticks out to me in the rio's office (other than that giant fish bowl) are all of those circuit breakers.

And now for some color...

and boom! cockpit done.

Now for the fun stuff,

Here you can see where I opened up the steps.

Since Bones is throwing down the gauntlet, I decided to step up my game with some tail stiffener plates.

I also have all the other sub-assemblies done but who really wants to see pics of boring ass wings and landing gear.

Another thing, when did Revell molds get so crappy?!? No wonder kids stopped building models. If I was a 10 or 12 year old kid who got this kit as my first model I would have given up 30 minutes into it to go play video games. It's impossible to get this thing looking halfway decent without having any previous modeling experience. I remember as a kid, the older boxings of this kit being buildable and are what really got me into modeling. But, now these molds are total shit.
...and rant off.
